She joined in Chachoengsao Rubber Research center, Rubber Institute of Thailand, Department of Agriculture as a plant breeder in 1999. The organization was converted from government agency into state enterprise in the name of RAOT in 2015.  After graduated PhD in Biotechnology from Mahidol University, Thailand in 2016, she worked in Rubber breeding both conventional and molecular plant breeding. In 2017, Kanlaya and team published “Manual of Hevea Clonal Identification” for used as guideline to identified the distinctive characteristics as seen through the seed, leaf, shape of leaf storey, petioles, leaf bud, form of stem, branching pattern, latex and other recognizable secondary characteristics. The clone inspectors can use these morphological characteristics as a tool for identified of true-to-type clones in budwood garden and field planting. At present, she mainly worked with Thai conventional breeding team. She focused her research on development of high yielding rubber clones.  In addition, she is a representative of Thailand in multilateral clone exchange program. This program has been organized by IRRDB to preserved potential clones of good performance among 15 countries of IRRDB membership.
